  •  St Barthélemy's church

This church was significantly extended in 1691 and one can see at hte front, signs of the old gate and rosace.

The heart-shaped sundial that you can see was drawn in 1859.

The church has a choir area decorated with an open fresco, painted in 1859 by two artist from Nice, Galli and Coste, and which represents the four evangelists and Saint Barthélemy.

Take note also of picture of the assumption, a copy of the Murillo School, offered in 1843 by the Queen marie-Adelaïde of Savoy.

The statue of Saint Barthélemy is also to be admired, he was one of Jesus's apostles who protected Montauroux from numerous invasions, discover also the busts and relics of Victoire and Specieuse, txo saints that are celebrated each year, two weeks after Easter.

Lastly, don't miss the italian organ which dates back to 1870 and which was later restored


  • St Barthélemy's chapel

The chapel, build in 1160 was destroyed when the Duke of Epernon invaded and was restored aftewards, between 1633 and 1638.

Sold on several occasions after the French Revolution, it was owned finally by the famous couturier Christian DIOR who donated it to the village in 1953. It was put ont he historical register because of its walls and barrel vault, wholly covered with frescos painted on the wood and realized by local and anonymous 17th Century artists.

"The Virgin's wedding" is next to the Sainte Barbe and Sainte Marguerite portraits in the heart of the vault.

In the nave, you will find the "Apostles Gallery", "The Montauroux armorial bearings", "the mysteries of the Rosary", and musical intruments from the times of Louis XIV.

These passing artist, however numerous, did a splendid job of saving the homogeneous character of this chapel, whose highlight is unquestionably the altar, surmounted by a magnificent retable, dated from the 1748.

  • St Michel's chapel :

La chapelle St Michel de Cavaroux de Cuxa est connu bien avant l’an 1040 au cartulaire de Lérins. Tout au long de l’ancien régime, elle servit au culte lors de romérages en l’honneur du St Archange.
A la révolution, elle fut achetée par la famille Truc qui accepta  de la vendre à la municipalité qui s’en défit à son tour en 1887, faute de moyen pour la restaurer.
La chapelle fut alors mis à la vente aux enchères publiques : Mme Merle l’acquérit pour en faire aussitôt don à la Fabrique. Lors de la séparation de l’Eglise et de l’Etat, elle retomba dans le domaine communal.
La chapelle est quelques fois ouverte à la visite, notamment lors des journées du patrimoine car elle possède un cul de four dans le plus pur art roman
